Cars and Motobikes or how to get from A to B
At first glance, Bali's traffic is an absolute chaos, it takes a while until you become accustomed, and to deal with it. For locomotion are various options available from Bemos (small mini buses, as a kind of collective taxi ) to car hire, also with a driver or a rental motorcycle. Everything is affordable and the prices vary from 30,000 - 50,000 IRP for a motorcycle or 150,000 - 300,000 for a car per day. Self-drive should be carefully considered, three people a day die in Bali's traffic. A valid international driving license is necessary. A travel sickness / accident insurance is strongly recommended.
Health
For entry to Bali, there are no specific vaccinations are required - unless you travel from a yellow fever area, then the proof of vaccination is requirement. Vaccinations against polio, hepatitis and tetanus are in any case (even at home !) are recommended. It is advisable to have a small first aid kit equipped with thermometers, plasters and antiseptic. For the case of unexpected medical care, has Bali number of good western doctors wait. Similarly, we recommend a travel sickness / accident insurance, which cover diving, or a separate diving accident (DAN).
Food
All hotels in Bali, serving international cuisine, as well as Indonesian and Chinese dishes. An Indonesian meal usually consists of a large portion of rice with a small side dishes of fish, vegetables or meat and sambal (a spicy chili sauce). Indonesian food is spicy, but not as sharp as Thai cuisine. There are other than the usual number of small restaurants and food stands ( Warung ), often on wheels (Bakso car), which offer small snacks. The food can taste pretty good, it's in the preparation, however, not always hygienic!
Padang Bai
Our starting point, the 5 * PADI Dive Resort OK Divers, is located in Padang Bai, a small fishing village with about
500 inhabitants, about one hour's drive east of Kuta located.
Going around the clock, approximately every two hours, the ferrys to the neighboring island of Lombok. Some shops are open 24 hours.
Apart from articles of daily needs, they offer (even at night) snacks and drinks.
Unlike some places in the south of Bali, there are no large hotels, but small hotels and private pensions, especially for the
backpackers are very popular.
Padang Bai has a series of small restaurants serving inexpensive maritime, Balinese and international dishes.
The village has four beaches:
- Blue Lagoon: Especially popular for snorkelling and diving.
- Village Beach: beach near the small hotels.
- Black Sand Beach: Spacious beach. Due to the strong reflection of solar radiation is recommended to visit more in the afternoon hours.
- White Sand Beach: Dream beach with South Seas atmosphere. Currently is the adjacent mountain a plot - the construction of the first resort was started and aborted, but the beach is completely intact and usable.
Minibuses, known as Bemos drive in all directions, even after Denpasar. In addition, there is a shuttle bus station with connections to Candi Dasa, Kuta, Ubud, Lovina, and many other popular locations in Bali and the airport.
Electricity
European plugs fit into the indonesian wall sockets, American and Australian plugs will need a adapter, the power is on
220 Volt.
